What can Childcare Options offer the employer?

We provide employers and employees with all the necessary paperwork, advice and ongoing support to run an effective childcare voucher scheme. The directors, supported by a strong administrative team, remain at the heart of the company, managing the client relationships, developing new business and looking at new ways to help working parents. Every enquiry is important to us and you can be assured of a high level of service at all times.

The company’s philosophy is to treat each client as an individual and to provide a quality personal service that is responsive to your needs.

What schemes are available?

Childcare Options offers three different service offerings:

  • Paper Vouchers - Paper vouchers of any denomination are supplied to the employee and presented to the childcare as full or partial payment for childcare. The childcarer then redeems them through Childcare Options and is paid either by bank transfer or cheque.
  • Virtual Vouchers - An account is set up for the parent into which the value of vouchers is credited each month on an agreed date, we pay the specified childcare on the employee's behalf and send a remittance advice for the childcarer's records.
  • Consultancy - where an employer is interested in running an in-house scheme, we can provide the advice and support to do this for 12 months after which the employer takes over the administration of the scheme.

What will the vouchers cost me?

Employers will pay Childcare Options the face value of the vouchers plus an administration charge which is more than covered by savings you will make on your employer’s NICs. There is no charge for set-up or for support as the fee is all inclusive. There is no charge to the employee or the childcarer either.

How will my employees receive their vouchers?

The employer will receive the vouchers before pay day to distribute to their employees.

How do I order the vouchers?

Each employer is sent an electronic order form to use when ordering the vouchers. This is then e-mailed to Childcare Options Ltd a few days before pay day. Payment for the vouchers plus administration fee is made, by bank transfer or cheque, on receipt of which the vouchers are sent first class to the employer.

What if one of my employees changes their mind later on and decides they no longer want to take childcare vouchers?

We recommend employees should give their employer at least one month’s notice of any changes. This gives the employer time to change the following month’s order. A refund can be given for any unused vouchers but the refund must go through the employee’s payroll so that tax and NICs are charged.
